LOW TESTOSTERONE
Could Your Symptoms Be Related to Low Testosterone?
If your energy, sex drive, strength, mood or mental focus have changed, low testosterone may be part of the explanation. Whether you are exploring these symptoms for the first time or looking for more personalized management of an existing diagnosis, the first step is a complete evaluation.
Low Testosterone Is More Than a Number
Testosterone influences sexual function, energy, muscle mass, bone health, mood and overall well-being. Levels may decline with age, but your overall health, medications, weight and other hormonal changes can also play a role.
Some men experience symptoms even when their testosterone falls within a broad laboratory reference range. Understanding how you feel, what has changed and where your levels fall within that range can provide a more complete picture. With a personalized evaluation and the right support, you can find a treatment approach designed to help you feel and function at your best.

Questions Men Often Ask
-
Yes. Laboratory reference ranges are broad, and the level at which one man feels his best may be different from another. Your symptoms, goals, health history and where your testosterone falls within that range should all be considered when deciding whether treatment may be appropriate.
-
Low energy, reduced sex drive, changes in mood, difficulty concentrating and loss of strength can have several possible causes. A consultation and lab work can help connect the dots, rule out other concerns and determine whether low testosterone may be contributing to how you feel.
-
Treatment is personalized to your needs, preferences and lifestyle. Common options include injections, topical gel and testosterone pellets. We will explain the differences and help you select an option you can use consistently and comfortably.
-
ICONA does not sell testosterone. Prescriptions for injections and topical testosterone are sent to your pharmacy. Testosterone pellets, when selected as the best treatment option, are placed during an in-office procedure.
-
Every man responds differently. Some begin to notice improvements in energy, sex drive, mood or mental clarity within the first several weeks, while changes in strength and body composition may take longer. Finding the right dose and delivery method may also take some adjustment.
-
Labs and follow-up visits are typically scheduled every three to four months while treatment is being adjusted. Once you are feeling well and your treatment is stable, visits may be spaced approximately six months apart. Your schedule will be based on your treatment, lab results and how you are feeling.
-
It can. Testosterone replacement therapy may reduce sperm production, so it is important to discuss your current or future fertility plans before beginning treatment. When preserving fertility is a priority, other treatment approaches may be considered.
-
You can still come to ICONA for care. We will review your current prescription, recent lab results, symptoms and goals to determine whether your treatment should be continued or adjusted. The goal is not simply to reach a number, but to help you feel and function at your best while monitoring your health appropriately.
